I really do believe that everybody can benefit from practicing yoga. Some of the benefits of yoga include improved focus and concentration, improved flexibility, increased strength, improved posture and increased sense of calm.
You need to discuss participating in a yoga class with your doctor first. If your doctor says it's okay, then you need to disclose your injuries to your instructor so she can better accomodate your body's needs and avoid further injury.
You need to bring a yoga mat and a blanket to class. Some students also bring water bottles. Some participants choose to bring eye pillows to cover their eyes during deep relaxation.
Blankets are used to cover the students during deep relaxation and can also be used to help modify certain asanas making them more accessible for students.
